< Research on the Universal Organization > Works Institute has been conducting researches and studies to "develop the present-day society for the next generation so that individuals will be able to work with more vigor and enthusiasm." This is the mission of the Recruit. Co., Ltd., and we believe in the "Mosaic-type society" as an ideal society. It is also the social demand in Japan today that faces lack of work force due to the falling birthrate and the increasing elderly population. Therefore, we would like to clarify the kind of organization that "each individual is able to work with vigor and enthusiasm, choosing his or her own way of working based on abilities and orientations instead of age or sex." In addition, we have decided to name this kind of organization as the "Universal Organization" using an analogy from the universal design proposed by the late Ronald L. Mace and others. # Research on the Universalizing Organization (Researcher in charge: Nishiyama) We have not yet found a good case example of the universal organization that is more than the diversity management. However, some cases are beginning to evolve from a number of excellent organizations that is the medium and small companies, the venture companies, and other non-private companies such as NPOs. While some organizations aim to become such ideal organizations. Through the encounter with these organizations, this research seeks the possibility that the universal organization become the effective model for not only individuals, but for the organization as a whole. # Evaluation Indicators of the Universal organization (Researcher in charge: Masuda) Taking the universal organization as an effective organizational model, this research formulates the evaluation indicators for the "universal organization level" necessary for the organizational reform. Since the universal organization is only partly being realized in the actual organizations, our method is to hypothetically examine the model of realizing the universal organization, and then measure and evaluate the closeness to the universal organization (universal organization level) following the model. < Research on Women > While women's ways of working have more variety of choices than those of men, they also face a number of complicated issues. Among those issues, the women's research unit selects and researches on the following 4 research themes. [ Theme1 ] The impact that the life events and the relationship with people would have on the formulation of the women's identities (Researcher in charge: Okumura) We seek how women change their occupation identities by the life events such as marriage, childbearing, job transfer of their husbands, and the new relationship with people created by those changes. [ Theme 2 ] Typifying the career paths of women before and after childbearing (Researcher in charge: Tokunaga) This research tries to typify how women change before and after "childbearing / child-care." In addition, we clarify how their career values (career concept) and jobs change before and after "childbearing / child-care." [ Theme 3 ] Research on the marriage policy and child-care support policy as the countermeasures to the falling birthrate (Researcher in charge: Watanabe) From the viewpoint of the countermeasures to the falling birthrate, we clarify (1) what kind of policies are effective to create a society where people who wish to marry are able to marry (marriage support policies) (2) what is necessary for the development of the "child-care environment to support child-care for all the children," regardless of whether or not the mothers are working, and make public policy proposals that would solve the problems. [ Theme 4 ] Research on women leaders (Researcher in charge: Ishihara) Although the percentage of the women executives in the companies tend to increase, most of them are the primary executives, and only a few women develop their careers vertically within the companies to become the senior executives (such as director level). Focusing on this reality, this research seeks the reasons why those women could accomplish their current status and what the companies should do to succeed in developing the women leaders. < Research on the Elderly > Taking the theme of the relationship between the elderly and employment, we conduct our researches in four dimensions this year. Acquiring the model of the specific data and framework through these researches, we seek the best form of aging Japanese society. [ Theme 1 ] Research on the relationship between the ideal way of working for the elderly and the new ideal way of working. (Researcher in charge: Fukushima) * Analyzing and organizing the working orientations of the elderly by their ideal way of working and working conditions. * Selecting and recommending the new ways of working by analyzing the primary cases and elementary cases. [ Theme 2 ] Research on the relationship between the career designs and abilities of the elderly (Researcher in charge: Kasai) * Presenting the career design concept for the elderly based on the viewpoint of the life span development. * Analyzing their abilities that confirms the feasibility of the career design for the elderly. [ Theme 3 ] Analyzing the characteristics of the elderly who work self-reliantlyiResearcher in charge: Takahashij * Analyzing and selecting the characteristics of the abilities and personalities of the elderly who work self-reliantly instead of relying on the organization. [ Theme 4 ] Research on the elderly's diversity and their willingness to work. (Researcher in charge: Matsumoto) * Clarifying the image of the diverse elderly by analyzing their willingness to work and their life values. * Clarifying the correlation between the elderly's willingness to work and their life values. |
